St John's Mothers Union (MU) has been part of the Parish since 1898. Holy Innocents Belair together with St. John's and later All Hallows Blackwood, had groups which met on a monthly basis.
Our Vision is of a world where God's love is shown through loving, respectful and flourishing relationships.
Our Aim and Purpose is to demonstrate the Christian Faith in action by the transformation of communities worldwide through the nurture of family in its many forms.
Our ladies meet on the 4th Monday of each month in the Parish Hall and we share Prayer, Fellowship and support for our MU project. Generally we have a speaker who can encourage us in our faith, and others who inform us about issues within the community. Visitors from the Parish are always welcome.
Although we do not make a point of fundraising, through our subscriptions and small efforts, we contribute to our projects. For the last 2 years, we have helped to support the St. John's Youth Service, Halifax St, City with a service to support homeless young mothers with their dependent children. Our focus overseas isin Tanzania where a Church and Community Mobilisation Process helps to tackle issues of poverty and illiteracy and equip women with skills to improve their lives.
The MU has rooms at 23 Leigh St. in the City where cards and literature is sold. We have a magazine posted quarterly to keep us informed about other MU groups in all States.
For further information, please contact Maureen Nicholls, Group Leader via the parish office. See Contact Us.
