“South From Alaska” fundraiser, November the 26th
Daphne & John Bone would like to thank all those who supported the “South From Alaska” fundraiser last Saturday. It was a great afternoon
and the total money raised was $2,788.00. Of course, it wouldn’t have got off the ground without the wonderful effort of Daphne & John and the use of their facilities. Thankyou.
John has provided the following precis of the afternoon:
Last Saturday afternoon (26th November) parishioners from St. John's, All Hallows and Holy Innocence plus many of their friends and neighbours were transported on a 'magic carpet ride' from one extreme of North America to the other.
While enjoying a menu of different dishes ranging from Reindeer Hot Dogs to Mexican Tacos they were treated to a programme of entertainment that included poetry, dancing, country & western music and grand opera.
Performers from local bands including "Desert Flood", "Middle aged Spread" and the "Short Handed Band" plus Sidonie Henbest, a soprano from the State Opera Company of SA all generously gave of their time and musical talents to make the afternoon a great success.
As well as being a great occasion and opportunity for parishioners to socialise with their local community, the income raised was used for the parish 'mission fund' from which the fourth quarter donation will go to the Repat Foundation for their work to help our service personnel suffering from PTSD.
